TOKYO, Oct 7 (PRIME) -- Japan has expanded its blacklists by including 58 individuals over their connection to the joining of new territories to Russia and by blacklisting nine companies, the Finance Ministry said in a statement on Friday.
The list of individuals comprises RT and Rossiya Segodnya Editor-in-Chief Margarita Simonyan, former State Duma Deputy Alina Kabayeva, the families of Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, Federation Council's Speaker Valentina Matviyenko, Security Council's Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, Chechen Republic’s Head Ramzan Kadyrov, and others.
The Japanese government also slapped sanctions on nine companies, including state industrial corporation Rostec and its radio-electronic subsidiary Ruselectronics. arms producer Kalashnikov, engine producer United Engine Corporation (UEC) and its subsidiary UEC-Klimov, and Kaliningrad's Yantar Shipyard.
Earlier in the day, Japan’s ban on exports of 89 goods and materials connected to chemical weapons to Russia came into force.
